Andrew W. Russell

SRNY Board of Managers,

Chair, Investment Committee

Andy was born in Lenox, Massachusetts and is descended from a Connecticut River Valley Massachusetts family with ties to the founding of the town of Hadley in 1659.

Andy attended the University of Vermont where he double-majored in History and Political Science and wrote his senior thesis on retired U.S. Senator Robert Stafford’s (R-VT) Guaranteed Student Loan Program.  He was elected the only freshman to the UVM Student Senate and was a member of the Inter-Residence Association Judicial Review Board.  During his junior year he performed analysis at the local PaineWebber brokerage office and during his senior year he interned for U.S. Senator James Merrill Jeffords, (R–VT).

Following his graduation from UVM in 1990 Andy joined Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.  During his tenure there he worked in the Investment Management department of the U.S. Private Banking group where, during his earlier years, he was selected to participate on-screen in a division-wide training video for new employees.  Later he joined the bank’s institutional client subsidiary, Chase Asset Management, Inc. – where he was a Vice President and Portfolio Manager.  By 1999 he was lead or co-manager on five mutual funds including the flagship Vista Bond Fund as well as the Vista Select Bond Fund.

In 1999, while conducting genealogical research at the New York Geneological and Bibliographical Society, Andy came to know a long-time Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York member.  This fellow patriot encouraged and supported his candidacy for membership in SRNY as well as S.A.R. and Society of Colonial Wars.  Andy first joined the SRNY Board of Managers in 2007.

Andy joined the Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ in 2003 and is currently the Head of Fixed-Income Investments and lead portfolio manager.  He oversees more than $1 billion of fixed-income investments and directs all in-house investment management activities including the portfolio management, research, trading, and investment risk management functions.

Andy and his two daughters live in Montclair, New Jersey.  He belongs to Union Congregational Church and is a member of their investment and stewardship committees.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Montclair Fund for Education Excellence. He belongs to both the Bradford Bath & Tennis Club in Montclair and the Union Club of New York.
