Membership Archives

SRNY has over 100 years of membership applications. These documents can be helpful to those interested in investigating their family history and completing their application to join SRNY.

SRNY has worked with the New York Genealogical & Biographical Society (NYG&B) to make select SRNY membership applications available through NYG&B’s online repository here.

Please note, however, that application records relating to individuals, living or deceased, will not be publicly available until all of the following conditions have been met:

  • 75 years after birth;

  • 50 years after death; and

  • 50 years after marriage

If you cannot find what you are looking for via NYG&B’s site, you may contact our office for copies of deceased member applications at membership@sonsoftherevolution.org or 212-425-1776. There is a $25 fee per request.

Each membership application traces a member's descent from a Revolutionary War patriot, offering a wealth of genealogical and other historical details, including:

  • Birth, marriage, and death information

  • Places of residence

  • Correspondence and certificates

Members include everyday New Yorkers and notable figures such as descendants of the Astor, Hamilton, Morgan, and Roosevelt families.

Records of SRNY’s activities and the stewardship of Fraunces Tavern, one of colonial New York’s most significant landmarks, are also included in NYG&B’s SRNY online collection.
